Reunion Time?

It has been several years since the inagural Green family reunion and we have lost a couple members of our family including Winnie. Here in Dayton, my mom and I have had discussions about having another Green Family Reunion, but so far the discussions have not gotten any further than just that, talk. Last week I received an email from Patty and apparently our relatives in Atlanta have been sharing the same thoughts, its time for another Family Reunion. So I think its time to take the next step.

Now we want to find out everyone else's opinions:
  • Is everyone on board for another reunion?

  • Does the summer of 2009 sound like a good time?

  • I know it is more of a burden for the travelers so I need to know if anyone objects to the Dayton families hosting?

  • Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I would also like people to email any family photos from the past and present so I can attach them to this blog for all to view.

If everyone will use this venue to communicate their opinions we will all be able to share and view our thoughts. Just leave a comment to the post.

I think it's a great idea! If I could suggest, and if it works timing-wise, can we have it around the Darke County Fair? I haven't been there since...well, a long time!

Thanks for taking the initiative!

I'm open to anything, anytime, anywhere. Can we adopt someone in Hawaii to host? Darke County Fair is perhaps more practical and that gives us options for things to do.

Here are some pics of the Wilbanks.

I love the idea of doing it during the fair. What time of year is that? The Conroys/Chomkos have a big 2009 - a graduation, 25th anniversary and three milestone birthdays so I don't know how that may impact travel. If it doesn't involve too much work for Pat and Ron I would love to do it at the farm again, unless Carol can find those "relatives" to host in Hawaii :) We will do whatever we can to help from Atlanta! I'm in and happy to help in any way I can. It is kind of you to say that the burden lies with those who travel to Dayton, but I think it lies with those of you in-town who do the planning and getting it all together!

Eric, I like the idea of doing it around the fair, if I could just remember when that was/is.

This year, the Darke Co. Fair is 2nd and 3rd week in August, so figure about that time for next year too. Hey look! REP Speedwagon! http://www.darkecountyfair.com/

Hmmm, that could get a little complicated with School. Around here, we go back to school around the third week and sports start before then too! I know that it would be difficult for us to pick up and go anywhere at that time, so it might be problematic for others too.

Let's propose a Plan B (and C, etc.) and then try them out with everyone.

I'm thinkin, I'm thinkin . . . uh, how about 4th of July? That's usually a 3 day weekend. Or, around the 2nd week of July is the Dayton Air Show.

Here's one from out in Left field. Rent some beach houses for a week in the Outer Banks!

I think its a great idea, as patty said it is a busy year for us next year but we will try to work with it. The fourth of july or the second week of august would be my vote at this point! My family loved Ron and Pat's farm last time,it was so nice of them to offer that up!

Received this message from Connie by email:

Don't know how to blog, sorry.

If everyone wants a reunion, that is fine with us. I think it is a lot to ask of Pat as she has done this before, but that is just my thoughts. You didn't send this to Laurie and AJ as I see your listing. We have not committed to anything this next year, at least as of now. Keep us posted, and maybe I'll learn this blogging business. Have to get the grandkids here to help me. Connie

Received this from the Clayton, GA gang:

Got it...Mary and I are discussing it ...how about renting a couple of houses at the beach like you did in Hilton Head? Sleeping bags are free! But we don't really care where but we don't want to put the stress on your parents regardless of what they say. Maybe Lake Cumberland in Ky/Tn? Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? Dollywood is there!!! We just went there with 2 kids. Tons to do and some motels not expensive and with pools. We stayed at a huge Comfort Inn in PF. Lots of Outlets too. 2 hours from Clayton and maybe 6 hours from Dayton. Food for thought! Crick, John and Mary

We think it's a great idea, and we're willing to help (from Chicago) any way we can.
The 4th of July sounds like a good idea, since Jason might be involved with football in August.
Clayton sounds like the best location, less driving for us.
